Miss Representation Now Available on Kanopy

By Jessica Serrenti

Kanopy’s recently added film, Miss Representation, unveils the gender inequalities created by the media’s portrayal of women. Directed by Jennifer Seibel Newsom for The Representation Project, the film comprises interviews from activists, politicians, journalists, academics, and entertainers to create a new perspective on equality. A brief list of the women interviewed includes Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Gloria Steinem, and Rosario Dawson. The film has won the Audience Award at both the Sonoma Film Festival and the Palo Alto International Film Festival.
