First Year Residents — Available Workshops

There are many programs still left for first year residents to attend and receive FYRE workshop credit. Students must sign in at these workshops to ensure they receive credit for attending. Most programs are 30 minutes long.

The CASA: Academic Coaches Resource Tables give students the opportunity to ask CASA coaches questions about their classes or other academics. The dates, times, and locations for the workshops are listed below.

  • Tuesday, September 30, from 4-6 p.m. in the Rothermel Hall Lobby
  • Wednesday, October 1, from 4-6 p.m. in the Schuylkill Hall Lobby
  • Tuesday, October 7, from 4-6 p.m. in the University Place Lobby

The Diversity-Multicultural Center Resources and Programs offers students the chance to see what services, resources, and programs the Multicultural Center provides. The dates, times, and locations for the workshops are listed below.

  • Tuesday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. in Lehigh Hall
  • Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. in Rothermel Hall
  • Tuesday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. in Schuylkill Hall
  • Tuesday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m. in University Place

Leadership 101 helps students find the right organizations and clubs to join at KU based off of their leadership styles. The dates, times, and locations of the workshop are listed below.

  • Wednesday, October 1, at 5:00 p.m. in Bonner Hall
  • Tuesday, October 7, at 8:00 p.m. in Deatrick Hall

The Just in Time workshop offers tips and tricks to for students to balance their busy schedules, learn time management, set priorities and goals, and make personal decisions. The dates, times, and locations of the workshop are listed below.

  • Thursday, October 2, at 4:00 p.m. in Schuylkill Hall
  • Monday, October 6, at 5:00 p.m. in Rothermel Hall
  • Thursday, October 9, at 4:00 p.m. in Beck Hall
  • Monday, October 20, at 5:00 p.m. in Bonner Hall

The workshop, Success in the Classroom, includes peer educators who act as Academic Coaches in sharing their expertise on note taking, study techniques, reading and utilizing classroom syllabi. The dates, times, and locations for the workshops are below.

  • Monday, October 6, at 7 p.m. in University Place

KUmmunication offers students tools to successfully communicate with their roommates. The dates, times, and locations are listed below.

  • Tuesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m. in Lehigh Hall
  • Thursday, October, 16, at 11:00 a.m. in Rothermel Hall
  • Thursday, October 16, at 3:00 p.m. in Deatrick Hall
  • Thursday, October 23, at 3:00 p.m. in University Place
  • Thursday, October, 30, at 3:00 p.m. in Beck Hall

Intro to the Library is presented by the Rohrbach Library and teaches students how to find and use the library’s resources. The dates, times, and locations for the workshop are listed below.

  • Wednesday, October 8, at 8:00 p.m. in Schuylkill Hall
  • Wednesday, October 22, at 9:00 p.m. in Lehigh Hall

The Stress Recess workshop includes interactive lessons on meditation, mindfulness, goal setting, and deep breathing. Students will learn stress-relieving techniques to use for their busy schedules. The session is presented by KUPHS and takes 45 minutes to complete. The dates, times, and locations for the workshop are listed below.

  • Thursday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. in University Place
  • Thursday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m. in Beck Hall

Ku and Its Resources provides students with information about student life, academics, health, and safety. The dates, times, and locations for the workshop are listed below.

  • Wednesday, October, 15, at 6:00 p.m. in Beck Hall
  • Thursday, October 16, at 7:oo p.m. in Bonner Hall
  • Thursday, October 23, at 7:00 p.m. in Deatrick Hall
  • Thursday, October 30, at 7:00 p.m. in Lehigh Hall

Career Development Center’s various workshops help students find the right resources to build successful careers at KU. The program topic, dates, times, and locations for the workshops are listed below.

  • Exploring Careers Through Job Shadowing
