Pride & Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience
Thanks to a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association, we at Rohrbach Library are thrilled to host the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s spectacular exhibit, Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience through October 26 outside the café on the Main Floor.
Saturday, Sept. 22 • 11am-1pm
Join us on KU Family Day as we welcome nonagenarian Negro Leaguer Jim Weedon, outfielder for the Harrisburg Black Giants, along with oral historian Dr. Bob Allen whose live multimedia presentation The Souls of Black Baseball: Barnstorming the Keystone State begins at 11:30am in Room 100B. Come early, bring the kids, and play some sandlot ball on the library lawn. For more information, contact Bruce Jensen at 610-683-4766.
Scholastic Book Fair
While you’re in the building, stop at the Scholastic Book Fair on the main floor (next to the exhibit) from 10-4. This sale is sponsored by the future librarians in KU’s Alpha Beta Alpha library science fraternity. This year’s sale will feature books for both children and adults! Proceeds benefit the fraternity as well as the heavily-used children’s literature collection (“Library Science Collection”) in the Rohrbach Library.
