A reception for artists Alicia Bonilla-Puig, Ekaterina Popova, and Christina Taylor will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011, in Rohrbach Library Room 100B. The reception runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members are welcome to attend.
“All of the Lights,” an art exhibit featuring work by Alicia and Ekaterina, is on display in the second floor gallery by Periodicals.
A senior painting major, Alicia is one of the coordinators of the MSU galleries. Her artwork has appeared in L Magazine, Weave Magazine, the Biggs Museum in Dover, Del., and the Center for the Creative Arts in Yorklyn, Del.
Also a senior painting major, Ekaterina is the gallery director at Eckhaus. Her work has appeared in the West Shore Gallery in Wormleysburg, Pa., KU’s Essence Magazine, the Brick Wall Gallery, and the Eckhaus Gallery.
“My Peruvian Experience,” Christina Taylor’s art exhibit, is on display in the first floor galley in the Information Commons.
Christina’s work spans both sides of the brain. “My Peruvian Experience” comprises paintings behind sheets of glass covered in chemical equations. The aesthetic coupling of art and science is captured perfectly.
This past January, Christina traveled to Peru where she learned about the country’s fascinating culture and history. She also took courses in art conservation, the area in which lie her career aspirations.
