Rohrbach Library provides several ways for students to get research assistance from a professional librarian. These services can help students with anything from providing quick answers to reference questions to working closely with a librarian in preparation for an upcoming research paper. The services are summarized below. Call the Research Help Desk for more information at 610-683-4165.
▪Research Help Desk. The Research Help Desk is located near the Information Commons Desk and Tech Support Desk on the first floor. A librarian is available at this desk during the following hours: Mon.-Thurs. 8a-10p, Friday 8a-5p, Saturday 9a-5p, and Sunday 12p-10p.
▪Phone help. Call the Research Help Desk to speak with the librarian on duty. The number is 610-683-4165.
▪In-depth help. Make an appointment with a librarian for one-on-one research assistance. Call 610-683-4165 to schedule an individual appointment.
▪Ask Here PA. Access this instant messaging service via the Library Web site. Under “Research Help,” click “Reference Chat” and it will bring you to a site to enter a screen name, email address, and a full question. This is a 24/7 international service in which a librarian will answer your question in 15 minutes or less.
▪Text a librarian. Rohrbach Library is one of the 70+ academic and public libraries across the country participating in a beta service where librarians are on call to answer any of your reference questions (M-F 9a.m.— Saturdays 10a.m.-6p.m.) in the InfoQuest cooperative. Send questions to 309-222-7740 and don’t forget to begin your questions with the shortcode, KRL. The service itself is free of charge, although standard text messaging rates do apply.
▪Email a librarian. Go to the Library Web site, and under “Research Help,” click “Ask a Librarian.” Questions submitted during weekdays should be answered within 24 hours, but questions sent on Saturday or Sunday may not be answered until the following Tuesday.
