Featured Americana References

This week, the Reference bulletin board features the following Americana texts: American Icons: An Encyclopedia of the People, Places, and Things That Have Shaped Our Culture, Vol. 1, 2, 3 (REF E 169.1. A472155 ).  These reference items include interpretations by casual readers, investigative students,  and scholars of American culture in essay formatt. Each icon chosen for the compilations include people, places, and things that have generated strong responses; stood for a group of related values; and communicated widely among all generations. The essays are arranged according to topic, such as “art and architecture, community or civic identity, femininity, film,” and much more.

After Spring Break (March 15th-19th), check out the featured reference items:Encyclopedia of African American History (REF E 185 .E 5453 2009) and Chronology of African-American History (REF E 185 H 64 1991).
