Welcome back to all returning KU students, faculty, and staff. And welcome all new students, faculty, and staff. If you weren’t one of the many patrons that frequented the library over winter break, you will notice that a few changes took place in the library.
As many of you may have noticed last semester, collections were being reclassified from Dewey Decimal classification to Library of Congress classification; this led to some shifting projects last semester and over break. Soon, all of the Dewey Decimal books (Main Collection books with call numbers from 300 through 900), will be together on the second floor. In addition to shifting and reclassifying Dewey Decimal books, the shelving for the Library Science collection continues to be improved. New shelving is being added so that all of the Library Science collection can eventually be in one place. The reclassification project will continue until all call numbers are changed to Library of Congress. Check back on the blog for updates about the Library Science shelving and shifting the rest of the collection to the new shelves.
As always, we at Rohrbach are working to make the library a better, more efficient place for you as you continue with your academic pursuits. These improvements in our collection organization are a great way to start the semester. On that note, we wish you all good luck this spring and we hope to see you here.
